Its weigh in/practice night. Everyone is making
sure that their car weighs in at 5oz and having their car run down the
track.
The official Pinewood day is beginning! There were 32 cars
entered to race. Here are the dens that competed against each other Den
3 Tigers, Den 1 Wolves, Den 6- Bears, Den 2 Webelos 1, Den 8 Webelos
2. When you weigh in your car, you want it to be exactly 5 oz.
If it is over, you have to take some weight off. If it is under, you can
add some weight. All of your wheels need to be spinning, and then your car
sits, and waits to race.
These are some of the exciting
things that happened during some of the races. #22 flew off of the track
twice, but did not get damaged. #23 and #24 tied in a race, which
was rare. Some of my favorite cars were, #16 The Gecko, #22- The Goofy
car.
Here come the finals! There were 16 races in
the finals, and you had to keep winning to stay in it! #20 fell off the
track during a finals race but did not get damaged. The cars that placed
1st, 2nd, and 3rd in the finals move on to
districts. All the top racers from our district raced each other.
These are the kids that are going to districts: 1st Graham
Schellenberg, and tied for 2nd Nicholas Ritter and Kevin
Hedrick.
That is how the Pinewood Derby
went.
